Last week, employees, volunteers, community members and legislative leaders gathered to celebrate the new Emergency Department (ED) at Baystate Wing Hospital opening on September 18. The new ED features 20 patient rooms, including trauma, behavioral health, and other dedicated specialty care areas with private rooms to enhance patient privacy. The 17,800 square foot facility includes co-located CT scan and radiology services.
The $17.2 million facility was funded through capital investment, bonds and a capital campaign through Baystate Health Foundation. The campaign received wide and generous support from the community, including $1 million from Country Bank, $200,000 from the Baystate Wing Hospital Auxiliary and many gifts from community members, medical staff, hospital leaders and employees. Ed and Ellen Noonan, well-known local residents and noted business and community leaders, served as campaign co-chairs.
