# BAYSTATE NOBLE HOSPITAL ADDS NEW ADVANCED CT SCANNER

**WESTFIELD**, MA (August 13, 2024) - - [Baystate Noble Hospital](https://www.baystatehealth.org/locations/noble-hospital) is excited to announce the addition of a new [CT (computed tomography) imaging](https://www.baystatehealth.org/medical-services/radiology-and-imaging) scanner, enhancing its commitment to providing advanced healthcare technologies for the greater Westfield community. The new scanner is a GE Revolution Ascend CT. The expectation is for the scanner to be operational in September.
The additional scanner is centralized on the first floor of Baystate Noble, adjacent to the current CT scanner and equal distance from the hospital’s main entrance and Emergency Department, creating a CT hub. Tonya Cardenales, regional director of Imaging Services at [Baystate Health](https://www.baystatehealth.org/medical-services/radiology-and-imaging) shared, “The new CT scanner uses cutting-edge technology that will allow our Radiology team to do state-of-the-art scanning in a modern, comfortable, and relaxing environment for our patients.”
A computerized tomography scan is a type of imaging that uses X-ray techniques to create detailed images of the body and then uses a computer to create cross-sectional images, or slices, of the bones, blood vessels, and soft tissue inside the body. CT scans show more detail than X-rays, making it a valuable tool to diagnose disease or injury, as well as to plan and guide treatments. “Access to high-quality care is incredibly important to our clinical teams and our patients,” said Lissette Grimaldi, Chief Administrative Officer/Chief Nursing Officer and vice president, Patient Care Services. “This scanner is more spacious than the industry standard and allows for more comfort for our patients. Having access to this high quality of care can lead to better health outcomes for the people in greater Westfield.”
